Our Faith
Trinity is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The faith we confess is set forth in The Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms.
Below is a brief summary of our beliefs:
Bible: We believe that the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God's truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and life.
God: We believe in the Trinity. There is only one true God who exists eternally in three persons -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Man and sin: We believe man was created to be in communion with God, but since the Fall all people are sinners by nature and guilty in God's sight. As sinners, we are totally unable to save ourselves; it his by God's grace alone that anyone is saved.
Salvation: We believe that salvation is the work of God alone. We see it as an act of the Trinity: planned by the Father from eternity, accomplished by the Son at the cross, applied by the Holy Spirit.
The Christian Life: We believe that as Christians we are not our own but belong to Jesus Christ. Every aspect of our lives is to be lived for God's glory, under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through his perfect obedience to the law and his sacrificial death on the cross, accomplished salvation for all those who believe in Him.
The Covenant of Grace: We believe Scripture is unified by this covenant promise: "I will be your God, and you shall be my people" (Leviticus 26:12). The whole Bible reveals God who covenants with his people not simply as individuals but as families, from generation to generation.
The Church: We believe the church is the visible covenant community of God's people, and it is through the Church that God extends his saving grace to the world.
The Holy Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit indwells God's people and enables them to trust Christ. The Spirit is also at work in the lives of God's people, conforming them to Christ's image as they are enabled to put sin to death and live righteous lives.
Perseverance of the Saints: We believe that those who come to Christ in faith will never be lost. Christians are called to fight the good fight of faith while they rest in the sure promise of God that he will never let them go. The Great Shepherd will not lose his sheep.
The Return of Christ: We believe Jesus will return in the last day, visibly and bodily, to judge all mankind and to welcome his people into everlasting life, where they will receive the fullness of joy and peace found in the presence of the Lord.
